We are pleased to share the three after-school options for the 2021-2022 school year.
Something to Build Upon:
STBU is the only program that offers after care Monday - Friday 2:45 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. All structured activities are included with the base tuition. Throughout the year, there may be an opportunity to add-on some premium activities, such as violin.
Living the Language (Spanish):
Living the Language is full immersion language program that offers an enrichment opportunity for students to become fluent in Spanish. LtL is a supplement to the Spanish classes that students take throughout the school day. Instructors do not speak English in class, thereby enforcing students to engage in various activities using Spanish as their main language! The World Language program at BCS aims to prepare students to be eligible to earn the Seal of Biliteracy.
The People's Music School (Music Theory & Community Band):
The People’s Music School envisions a society where all children have access to the unique social, emotional, intellectual benefits achieved through musical excellence. We believe music is transformative and empowers the lives of youth, families and communities. Led by professionally-trained faculty, students receive intensive music education for on average nine hours each week in our four core areas of music instruction: music theory, group instruction, individual instruction, and performance ensembles. We are 100% free, 100% underserved, over 90% of color with a 100% high school graduation and college attendance rate. Learn more about how we transform and empower lives through music education.
Bronzeville Fencing Academy:
The Bronzeville Fencing Academy is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit dedicated to providing and meeting the existing and future needs of underprivileged and underserved urban youth in the Black Metropolis District – Bronzeville area; contributing to the personal growth of its participants through the development of character-building programs, tools and training. This holistic program cultivates the development of the student-athlete and provides instruction in Foil and Sabre. The focus promotes athletic prowess and good citizenship in a fun and safe environment. The participants enjoy a positive and fun class atmosphere where through expert instruction, they are afforded the opportunity to grow and learn the sport of Fencing at their own pace.
